Measur Expands Market Opportunities Through Partnership with SPH Engineering
August 21, 2025

With SPH Engineering’s drone-based integrated systems, Measur positioned itself as a key supplier of non-traditional UAV solutions. These technologies helped Measur’s customers avoid hazardous field conditions, replace bulky equipment like boats and carts, and collect accurate data in areas that were previously difficult or unsafe to survey using conventional methods.

About Measur

Founded in 2001, Measur is Canada’s commercial drone distributor specializing in aerial solutions for industries such as mining and aggregates, agriculture and forestry, infrastructure and utilities, construction, surveying and mapping, and oil and gas. The company began with a focus on construction testing equipment but transitioned several years ago into drone-based technologies as demand grew for more efficient and precise data collection methods.

This shift allowed Measur to expand its portfolio and include integrated UAV systems tailored for technical and field-intensive applications. Today, Measur supports clients across North America with equipment and expertise designed to meet complex operational, geospatial, and environmental survey challenges.

Meeting Demand for Safer, More Flexible Surveying Solutions

Before partnering with SPH Engineering, Measur supported clients across a range of industries such as construction, energy, government, and academia. Many relied on traditional equipment like boats for bathymetry and pushcarts for GPR. These methods, however, often proved impractical in the field due to access issues, high costs, and safety concerns.

Measur did offer alternatives, such as a USV for bathymetric work, but these didn’t cover all use cases. In many environments, remote or land-based systems were still limited. This revealed a need for more versatile tools capable of operating in areas where conventional equipment could not.

Drone-based integrations filled that gap, allowing Measur to introduce new capabilities to clients unfamiliar with UAV technologies. Once presented with these options, many saw immediate value.

Building a Competitive Edge Through UAV-based Integrated Systems

To address limitations in traditional surveying methods and offer new capabilities to clients, Measur partnered with SPH Engineering to introduce drone-integrated technologies into its portfolio.

Key components of the SPH Engineering solution included:

  • Seamless Integration with DJI Drones
SPH’s systems were designed to integrate with DJI platforms, which dominate the drone hardware market. This compatibility was a key factor in Measur’s selection of SPH technologies, simplifying internal adoption and customer onboarding.
  • Software Ecosystem (UgCS + SkyHub)
SPH’s UgCS flight planning software and SkyHub integration enabled precise, automated mission control. These tools allowed for advanced terrain-following and sensor triggering, essential for applications like bathymetry and subsurface mapping.
  • Strong Technical and Account Support
Ongoing communication with SPH’s team through a dedicated account manager ensured that Measur had access to updates, documentation, and technical guidance. This helped build internal expertise and ensured customer questions were addressed promptly.
  • Scalability for New Markets
With SPH solutions, Measur could expand its offering to sectors that required more than standard photogrammetry or visual inspection without needing to develop custom systems from scratch.
  • Training-Ready Infrastructure
While Measur does not provide services or direct training, it supports customers by coordinating fieldwork and technical onboarding through Altomaxx, which handles the majority of hands-on demonstrations and training. SPH Engineering has offered training support when needed, making it easier for Measur to equip customers with specialized systems.

Results and Future Outlook

The integration of specialized payloads provided Measur with immediate value in complex survey scenarios.

Notable results include:

  • In 2024, Measur became one of SPH Engineering’s largest distributors, reflecting strong sales growth and extensive market penetration.
  • By offering drone-based solutions, Measur gained access to previously untapped markets, attracting large organizations including government agencies, universities, and mining companies.
  • Measur deepened client relationships by expanding its product offering with drone-integrated technologies, supporting client retention and long-term partnerships.

Measur plans to continue collaborating with SPH Engineering and expand access to drone-based technologies that support more advanced survey applications.
