It also skips a significant chunk of what the software can actually do.
On March 19, SPH Engineering is running a free training session focused specifically on the UgCS features that most users never touch. Valerijs, a UgCS engineer, is leading it. This isn't a product overview for new users. It's aimed at pilots who already know the basics and want to fly smarter.
What the Session Covers
Power-user tips from the engineering team. The people who build UgCS know where the leverage is. Valerijs will walk through tools and settings that experienced pilots consistently overlook.
UgCS Open vs UgCS Expert. Open gives you two routes per day with a 250m route distance limit. Expert removes those limits and adds the full LiDAR toolset, automated IMU calibration patterns, point cloud preview, and advanced corridor planning. If you're sitting on the free version and wondering when it makes sense to upgrade, this session gives you a direct comparison.
Why updating UgCS matters. New versions aren't just bug fixes. Drone firmware updates, new airframe support, and workflow improvements ship with each release. Running an old version means missing compatibility patches and new features.
Live mission planning. Valerijs will plan a mission on screen during the session. Useful for seeing how an experienced user structures a flight, particularly for routes that go beyond a basic rectangular grid.
Live Q&A. Bring your specific questions. If you've hit a wall with a particular workflow, this is a good place to get a direct answer.

If you've been flying with UgCS for months and still feel like you're missing something, you probably are. This is a good way to find out what.
